Technology Skills Reflection

Technology has shaped the society in many ways. A high percentage of the world's population relies on technology. I use technology very often for school purposes and social life. Now days, many assignments are to be done on the computer. Some programs that I use are: Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, and Wix. The only social media program I use is Instagram.

All or most of the teachers use educational sites where they are able to send messages to their students and upload documents. This is beneficial to students so we are able to ask questions even when we are not at school; we also have access to the documents at home. In many cases, students upload there assignments to the teacher using their class site instead of printing. Handing in assignments online saves a lot of paper. Common websites that teachers use are: Edmodo, PDSB Sharepoint (BYOD) and Desire to Learn.

Technology is very effective and effecient in this generation. Personally, I feel that it is a faster way to gather information for a research assignment; it is much more effecient then looking through books. Having great technology skills will be beneficial when looking for a job. Firstly, many programs will help you connect with people that are associated with your future career. One of the most effective websites and applications is Linkedin. It is a social networking service which allows you to strengthen and extend your network. Secondly, many job applications are done online so it would be beneficial if you know the basics of a computer/laptop and have access to one. Lastly, many companies look for people who can use many programs since it is a skill required for that job. These are only a few reasons why technology is effecient and effective but there are many more.
